Bridgerton season 2 is right round the corner, and Netflix has finally blessed us with a full-length trailer to get us in the mood.

The trailer confirms what we've long suspected: that Anthony Briderton's love life will be the central talking point in the new season. The three-minute trailer opens with Lady Violet Bridgerton saying, “This is the season the Viscount intends to find a wife.”

Cue loads of flirty glances from all the single ladies in the room. We're also formally introduced to Kate Sharma (played by Sex Education's Simone Ashley), while the infamous gossip, Lady Whistledown, continues her narration. Spoiler alert: there's also a scene of Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) scrambling out of a lake wearing a white shirt. It's all very Mr Darcy.

Have a watch below, and then scroll down to learn everything we know about Bridgerton season 2, so far:

Are there any teaser pics for Bridgerton season 2?

Indeed, there are. On 19 January, Netflix released eight brand-new teaser pics, introducing us to some new cast members (as well revisiting some old favourites… hello Penelope Featherington).

One new cast member is Kate Sharma, who can be seen dancing with Anthony Bridgerton. Netflix also treated us to a snap of Anthony and his eligible bachelor brother's engaging in a bit of sword-play – nice.

Simone Ashley is joined by Charithra Chandran (who plays her sister Edwina Sharma) and a rather handsome-looking canine pal. We then see Simone as Kate Sharma holding a rifle in the woods, as well as wearing a hat worthy of a royal wedding invitation.

Next up, we were treated to a pic of our fave BFFs, Penelope Featherington and Eloise Bridgerton, who were engaging in a – no doubt, scandalous – gossip sesh. This was followed by a regal snap of the Featherington ladies – AKA Georgian society's answer to the Kardashians – descending a staircase.

Of course, it wouldn't be Bridgerton without an appearance from our beloved Daphne, AKA Phoebe Dynevor

And perhaps our favourite cast member of them all, her Royal Highness: Golda Rosheuvel. Looking magnificent, as always.

In September 2021, Bridgerton social accounts gave fans a glimpse at the latest family to join the scandalous scene of Regency-era London – in a snap that shows a chuffed-looking Lady Danbury presenting the Sharma ladies at what is (hopefully) yet another sparkling society soirée (set to the soundtrack of our favourite string quartet, of course).

Who has been cast in Bridgerton season 2?

In devastating news, the time has come to bid adieu to Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings. Nooooo.

Netflix and Shondaland announced on Instagram that Regé-Jean Page’s character won't be making an appearance in the second season, revealing the news via a notice from Lady Whistledown. “Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings,” the message began.

“We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family,” it continued. “Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.”

Regé-Jean took to the comments to share his love for the show: "It’s been an absolute pleasure and a privilege! Joining this family – the connection on and off screen, with our cast, our crew, all the incredible fans, has been like nothing I could have ever imagined – the love is real and will just keep growing."

Miss you already, Duke.

The show's creator has also spoken about the Duke's departure and what she thinks of Regé's decision to leave. "I was really shocked [by the reaction], because usually that happens when I've killed off somebody that's been around for a while," Shonda Rhimes told Vanity Fair. "Like, we didn't kill him, he's still alive!

"I don't know that I expected this much of an explosion, given that every book [in the Bridgerton series] is a different romance. What would be the ever-after of this combo? I mean, really: What would Regé-Jean do, you know what I mean? We gave them their happily ever after. And now we have this next couple coming. And so yeah, I was like, whoa!"

It's also been confirmed that Simone Ashley will play the lead in season two, in the role of Kate Sharma, Anthony Bridgerton's love interest. You'll likely recognise her as Olivia Hanan, a member of The Untouchables in Sex Education (you know, the one that deep-throated a banana and threw up on Eric?)

The casting was first reported by Deadline, who revealed that "Ashley will play Anthony’s romantic interest, Kate Sharma. Newly arrived in London, Kate is a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools — Anthony Bridgerton very much included."

We also know actress Melissa Advani is set to star as Lady Eaton in the second series. She's starred in a number of short films including Everywhere, Vicente and the 2014 horror film Bloodless.

We can expect season two's love story to be just as intoxicating as the first. Speaking on Today with Hoda & Jenna, Van Dusen added: “We have a bunch of new characters we are going to be introducing. Anthony is going to have a love interest next season, and I think it’s going to be as sweeping and moving and as beautiful as viewers of the first season have come to expect from the show.”

We must assume that the full Bridgerton family will also be back in force, as well as the Featheringtons (minus their late father). The characters that could well be missing include Siena, who dumped Anthony, as well as queen's nephew, Prince Friedrich, who headed back to Prussia.

Is there a trailer for Bridgerton season 2?

Yes, there's the one you just watched above, of course, but there is also a first-look teaser trailer, released by Netflix back in September, which gave us our very first glimpse of Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) as she speaks to Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey). To say we're excited is a HUGE understatement:

Have there been any behind-the-scenes Bridgerton snaps?

We've had our first glimpse on set of the new show, courtesy of Luke Newton who plays Colin Bridgerton. The star confirmed some major Bridgerton news via his Instagram account.

In the first picture, the 24-year-old actor and his onscreen brother, Jonathan Bailey, who the next season will be centred around, are pictured riding jovially through London on horseback. In another, they're seen larking about on set and there's also a BTS video of them filming in London. We are as thirsty as you are for more deets.

“The boys are back in town,” he captioned his post. Oh, you tease.

In May, the cast and crew were spotted filming in London at Greenwich's Old Royal Naval College. Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, and Jessica Madsen, who starred in the first series as debutante Cressida Cowper, joined newcomers Melissa Advani and Priya Kansara in an array of period dress. The London landmark has appeared in quite a few multiple big-budget productions, including The Crown and the 2013 film Thor: The Dark World.

The show's lead Phoebe Dynevor, who played Daphne Bridgerton in the first series, was also spotted on set filming scenes for the second series at Ranger's House in Greenwich, the Georgian villa which doubles as the doubles as the Bridgerton family house in the Netflix drama.

What will Bridgerton season 2 be about?

Bridgerton season one was adapted from Quinn's first book 'The Duke and I', and focuses on the relationship between Simon Basset and Daphne Bridgerton. The second book, 'The Viscount Who Loved Me', focuses on Daphne's brother Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and his pursuit of marriage.

Season two will focus on Anthony's story and how a smart and headstrong woman called Kate Sharma, who has newly arrived in London, will catch his eye. You'll remember in the first season, Anthony's relationship opera singer Siena (Sabrina Bartlett) broke down, with Anthony declaring his intention of 'finding and promptly declaring my intentions to my new viscountess'.

The Bridgerton crew have long hinted that the second series will focus on Anthony's pursuit of love.

And whilst she couldn't reveal much, Phoebe Dynevor said she'd be up for exploring this storyline, too, whilst including more of Daphne's future. She told GLAMOUR US: "I genuinely don't know anything, first off. It's all top secret. But I would like to see her get more involved in her brother Anthony's love life. I think it's her time to get him back."

Speaking to Josh Smith in his brilliant new podcast, Make It Reign , Nicola Coughlan said she hopes the show will explore the queer characters more: “I would love if we got to continue exploring the queer characters more, and explore all different facets of society," she said.

So what of Penelope's love life? It seems her own mother has ideas. "My mum said, if you get season two you tell Chris (the show runner) to get that Prince back. I said I will see what I can do! My mum ships Penelope and the Prince together - hugely! No one wants to even dance with Penelope so I don’t know how she will get a Prince all of a sudden but sure! Every ball that happened my mum would say, ‘do you get to dance at this one? Jesus Christ!’ We need to get her drunk on champagne and see!… My mum would like more Prince Fredrick content and for me to dance more!”

When will Bridgerton season 2 be released?

Bridgerton season 2 will land on Netflix on 25th March 2022.
