Rachel Zegler, the star of Academy Award-nominated movie West Facet Story, claims she wasn’t invited to the Oscars ceremony subsequent week.
Regardless of the critically-acclaimed movie being nominated throughout seven classes on the Academy Awards, Zegler — who performs Maria within the Steven Spielberg blockbuster — says she will not be attending.
The US actress, 20, responded to a fan query about what she will likely be carrying to the enduring occasion with a bleak admission: “I am not invited, so sweatpants and my boyfriend’s flannel.”

After her response sparked outrage, Zegler mentioned she did not perceive the choice to exclude her from the Oscars.
“Idk y’all i’ve tried all of it but it surely would not appear to be occurring. I’ll root for West Facet Story from my sofa and be pleased with the work we so tirelessly did 3 years in the past,” she continued.
“I hope some final minute miracle happens and I can have a good time our movie in individual however hey, that is the way it goes generally, I suppose.”

She added: “Thanks for all of the shock and outrage — I am dissatisfied, too. However that is okay. So pleased with our film.”
Whereas Zegler was not nominated for a Greatest Actress gong, the younger star obtained the Golden Globe for Greatest Actress for her efficiency within the remake of the 1957 stage present, which was launched in 2021.
West Facet Story has been nominated for seven Academy Awards, together with Greatest Image and Greatest Director.
